It was most certainly a surreal scene at Wednesday’s Cleveland Browns practice, as Pittsburgh Steelers backer Snoop Dogg paid a visit and actually praised his favorite NFL team’s AFC North rivals.
The hip hop icon, in Cleveland to promote his stage play that will have a showing at a local theater later in October, talked-up the up-and-coming Browns team despite his NFL loyalties.
“The real Dogg had to come see the Dawg Pound and make it official,” Snoop said on “Cleveland Browns Daily,” via Cleveland.com. “I like a lot of players y’all got on your team. I like what y’all doing. (Jarvis) Landry, (Baker) Mayfield, (Myles) Garrett, (Jabrill) Peppers. It’s a bunch of guys I like how they get down.”
Snoop even recorded a short hype video for the Browns ahead of Sunday’s showdown with the Los Angeles Chargers.
“What up there, this is big Snoop Dogg. Dawg Pound, y’all better turn up this week, man,” Snoop said. “Y’all got a new feeling, a new spirit. Let’s go get it done Dawg Pound.”
Browns head coach Hue Jackson, though, cautioned against players getting caught up in all the hype.
“Snoop, I’ve known him for quite a while,” Jackson said. “He’s been around some other places I have been. … It was good to have him out for a moment. A lot of guys see him on the sideline, and his message was ‘Man, you guys are doing some good things, some really good things.’
“I thought that was great. At the same time, there are going to be a lot of people that want to come be on this wagon when the wagon gets rolling, and we’re going to circle the wagon…”
Snoop Dogg and Hue Jackson go way back. How about that?
