Philadelphia Eagles players are certainly doing their part to ratchet up the animosity heading into Sunday night’s nationally televised game against the division-rival Dallas Cowboys.
After Jason Kelce absolutely eviscerated the Cowboys organization — not to mention its fans — this week, Eagles veteran rabble-rouser Jason Peters took a brutal shot at this weekend’s foe as well by pointing out Dallas’ arrogance despite a glaring lack of success of late.
“They’re just arrogant,” Peters said, via NJ Advance Media. “The organization, everybody, ‘America’s Team.’ Right now, they’re not winning. Let’s see how many people jump off their bandwagon and stay with them. We’ll see Sunday and try to get that ‘W’ on them.”
Interestingly, the Eagles have not fared well against the Cowboys since Peters joined the team in 2009, going 8-11 (0-1 in the postseason) against their division rivals. Still, the Eagles obviously can gloat over a Super Bowl title while the Cowboys have not notched a playoff victory since 2014 and have only reached the postseason twice in the last eight seasons.
The Eagles have evened up their record this season and are sitting at 4-4 heading into Sunday’s divisional showdown. The Cowboys, meanwhile, have dropped two straight and with a 3-5 record are on the precipice of another lost season. Perhaps all the smack talk coming out of the Eagles’ locker room will serve as bulletin board material for the reeling Cowboys. Then again, perhaps not.
