The Super Bowl champions may be without their top passing threat to begin their title defense.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery might not be ready for the start of the regular season as he continues to work back from rotator cuff surgery, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Jeffery has been on the physically unable to perform list all through training camp. He is "progressing according to plan," Rapoport added, but could remain on PUP to open the year.
The 28-year-old was a key contributor in the Eagles' first championship victory, contributing nearly 800 receiving yards during the regular season before scoring three touchdowns and racking up 219 yards over three playoff contests.
