Report: Broncos can’t reach agreement with Kubiak for OC position

Gary Kubiak will not be the Denver Broncos' next offensive coordinator, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

The Broncos were linked to their former head coach since the end of the regular season, but after lengthy talks, the two sides were unable to come together on staffing and offensive philosophy, according to Schefter. Both the Broncos and Kubiak will now head in other directions.

Denver hired defensive mastermind Vic Fangio as its head coach on Thursday and the assumption was Kubiak would handle the offense. Kubiak was the Broncos' offensive coordinator from 1995 to 2005 and returned in 2015 as head coach. He led the team to a Super Bowl victory in his first season back and retired after the 2016 campaign for health reasons.

The impasse stems from Kubiak's desire to bring offensive assistants Rick Dennison and Brian Pariani back with him, Mike Klis of 9News reports. Both were fired upon Kubiak's departure in 2016.
