Giants HC says Beckham’s early 1st-half exit was due to dehydration

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. caught everyone's attention again when he headed to the locker room before the first half of Thursday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles concluded.

With the Giants still on the field late in the second quarter, Beckham appeared to be visibly upset entering the tunnel.

Following the 34-13 loss, Giants head coach Pat Shurmur explained that Beckham was dehydrated.

"Yeah he had an IV, you know, he dehydrated again. He went back in the locker room," Shurmur told reporters postgame.

Asked if there's any way to prevent Beckham from dehydrating, Shurmur didn't have a clear answer.

"Some guys' bodies dehydrate quicker than others. We just got to keep looking for ways to make sure he stays hydrated."

Beckham struggled to make an impact on the game, finishing with six catches for 44 yards on 10 targets. The Giants failed to generate a consistent offense outside of a standout performance from rookie running back Saquon Barkley.
