Giants’ Barkley calls Gurley the NFL MVP

New York Giants rookie sensation Saquon Barkley referred to Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley as the NFL's Most Valuable Player on Tuesday.

"I definitely can learn a lot from a guy who blocked from, at the end of today, the MVP of the league," Barkley told reporters when asked about the Giants signing ex-Ram lineman Jamon Brown, according to Matt Lombardo of NJ.com.

Brown, who spent two-plus seasons with Gurley on the Rams, joined the Giants on Oct. 31 during their bye week. Barkley offered plenty of praise for Brown's former teammate, who is a prime MVP candidate along with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

"I watch film of Todd Gurley, and I love the way he plays," Barkley said. "He's an all-purpose back. He's a threat every time he touches the ball. He runs physical. He's great in between the tackles."

Barkley and the Giants aren't scheduled to face Gurley, who leads the NFL in rushing through nine weeks, and the Rams this season.
