Club History

The team was supported on Jan thirty, 1960, and compete its initial regular season game on Sep 11, 1960, as a member of the American football League (AFL) at Kezar bowl in port of entry, California; they’re presently members of the National league (NFL), that united with the American Federation of Labor in 1970.

The Raiders presently vie within the NFL as a member club of the league’s American football Conference (AFC) West division and play their home games at the Oakland–Alameda County sports stadium. At the top of the NFL’s 2015 season, the Raiders boasted a life regular-season record of 444 wins, 397 losses, and eleven ties; their life competition record presently stands at twenty five wins and eighteen losses.

NFL team homeowners voted nearly nem con to approve the Raiders’ application to relocate from urban center to urban center, Nevada, during a 31-to-1 vote at the annual league conferences in Phoenix, Arizona, on March twenty seven, 2017. The Raiders arrange to stay in urban center through 2018 – and presumably 2019 – and relocate to urban center in either 2019 or 2020, dependent upon the completion of the team’s planned new bowl.

The Raiders’ off-field fortunes have varied significantly over the years. The team’s initial 3 years of operation (1960–1962) were marred by poor on-field performance, monetary difficulties, and uneven group action. In 1963, however, the Raiders’ fortunes improved dramatically with the introduction of head coach (and ultimate owner) Al Davis.

In 1967, when many years of improvement, the Raiders reached the postseason for the primary time. The team would maintain to win its initial (and only) American Federation of Labor Championship that year; in doing therefore, the Raiders advanced to Super Bowl II, wherever they were soundly defeated by the city Packers.

The Raiders’ run of success intense throughout the Seventies. From 1970 to 1977, the team won six division titles and reached the AFC Championship Game sixfold. In 1976, the team captured its initial NFL Championship with a convincing ending over the American state Vikings in Super Bowl XI. when narrowly losing the 1977 AFC Championship Game, the Raiders uncomprehensible the playoffs in 1978 and 1979; in 1980, however, the team unexpectedly captured a second Super Bowl championship with a simple ending over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XV.
